One of my biggest takeaways this week is the importance of doing what you want to do and saying what you want to say… now.
It’s really interesting how a lot of the time it takes the threat of an illness or a near death experience for people to finally say “wow, I really don’t want to be in this job” or “I don’t tell my family that I love them enough”. Things are really put into perspective when you get a wake up call at how precious life is. When really these should be things you stay aligned with on a day to day basis. It is so easy to keep putting off big decisions or life changes until “tomorrow” but we aren’t promised tomorrow, we only truly have right now.
This life is a gift, not a promise. We are not promised a 100 years or health or even love for that matter. It is who you decide to become and how you decide to treat others that contributes to your experience here. You can go on and on in a job or a relationship that doesn’t make you happy. You can live a mundane life. You can stay lost. I mean there is nothing wrong with that but you do have to realize it is by your choice. You decide to stay in that job and relationship. You decide to keep moving through the motions. You decide how your life is going to go. You decide who you want to be.
I believe that you can change your life in the blink of an eye, if you decide to.
So make the decision to treat yourself right by not settling for anything less than a life that makes you excited to wake up in the morning. Surround yourself with people you love. Tell the people you love that you love them. Follow the career that you spend your time daydreaming about. Work really hard to get there and don’t let anything stop you. Fake it till you become it if you have to.
We never know how much longer we have on this Earth. So why the hell not have a freaking fantastic experience? I am not saying it will always be easy but I have a slight feeling it might be worth it 🙂
